The governor of Taiz, Dr. Amin Mahmoud, survived today, an assassination attempt in the capital Aden after an explosive device exploded during the passage of his convoy. The incident killed and injured a number of his companions.
The governor of Taiz was reportedly injured in the blast in Enma area between the districts of al-Mansoura and al-Buriqa, but no official confirmation about the injury of the governor or the number of victims.
The incident came days after the meeting of President Abdurbo Mansour Hadi in the capital Aden with the governor of Taiz Amin Mahmoud and a number of military and security leaders to discuss the renewed armed violence in Taiz caused by Islah party, Yemen's branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. President Hadi directed forming a committee to tackle conditions in Taiz and boosting its security and stability.
