The Adeni movie The Burdened of Amr Gamal received on Sunday the best screenplay award at the famous Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) that annually takes place in South Africa.
The jury of the DIFF's 44th edition decided to award the prize of best screenplay to the writers of the film, Amr Gamal and Mazen Refa'at.
The 10-day festival started on 20 July at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. More than 3,000 films from 137 countries have entered this year's edition for an online and in-person presentation.
DIFF that debuted in 1979 is the oldest film festival in South Africa presented by the Centre for Creative Arts.
The Burdened's story centers on Ahmed and Isra'a parents of three children who lost their job due to the country's economic crisis. Isra'a finds out about her fourth pregnancy at this time when they cannot afford to raise one more child.
