The president of the Southern Transitional Council, Aidroos al-Zubaidi met in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, with the UN special envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths.
The meeting focused on the security situation in Aden and the South, latest peace efforts and means to engage the Southerners in the U.N.-mediated peace process for a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
During the meeting, Griffiths conveyed the condolences of the United Nations to Abu Al Yamamah's family and the people of the South, expressing his regret over the terrorist attack on al-Jalaa camp and described the incident as "serious development".
For his part, al-Zubaidi affirmed that the southern forces will continue the fight against terror, calling on the UN Envoy to contribute effectively in lifting the suffering of the southern people under frequent terrorist and Houthi attacks along with unjust international silence.
He also stressed that peace can never be achieved without the presence of the Southerners in the peace process as a principal and independent party.
The meeting was attended by the members of the STC Presidency, Fadl al-Jaadi, Murad Al-Halimi and Lutfi Shatara, Deputy Head of the STC Department for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi and deputy of the UN special envoy for Yemen, Moeen Shrim.
