President of the Southern Transitional Council Major Aidroos Qassem Al-Zubaidi met on Tuesday at the STC's headquarters in Tawahi -Aden, a delegation from the United States of America.
Mr Gerald M Feierstein the former USA’s Ambassador to Yemen chaired the American delegation, which comprised a number of American Academics researchers, experts in the Middle East issues as well lectures from different research and strategy institutions.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the delegation to Aden the capital of the South. He expressed his pleasure and hoped that the visit will be a prelude to more visits and meetings at higher levels in the future.
Major General Al-Zubaidi asked the delegation to carry a message on behalf of the Southern people to the people and the leaders of the USA explaining the right of Southerners to regain their full sovereign state as it was pre the unification in May 21, 1990.
"The next Southern state will be a democratic civil state. The American people and leadership will be a serious partner to maintaining security, stability and combat terrorism in the region" he said.
The president added that the STC is currently a strong and honest partner with the brothers in the Arab coalition countries led by KSA and the UAE. He said “We work hand in hand to combat the Iranian expansionists project on the one hand, and confront the Houthi coup conspiracy in Yemen on the other.
On his part, Mr Feierstein expressed his pleasure in being in Aden and meeting Commander Aidroos Al-Zubaidi as well as the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council.
The former Ambassador promised to convey the STC’s message to the concerned authorities in the United States, stressing that this visit will not be the last one. He said that there will be in the future similar meetings either in Aden or in Washington to promote strong ties between the two friendly peoples.
At the end of the meeting, president of the STC Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi handed over souvenirs to Mr Feierstein and members of the American delegation.
