 Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice-President of the National Assembly for Financial Control and Inspection, Lufti Shatara warned against imminent risk of food insecurity in the country due to the current war in Ukraine, the world's fifth-largest wheat exporter.

Shatara urged the government to immediately intervene in order to help agri-food traders finding alternative pathways to food security and nutrition following the impacts of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Shatara made it clear "We are facing a serious food crisis that will not exclude anyone."

"Egypt approved India as a source of wheat supplies for its agri-food traders as (in our country) Hayel Saeed Anam Group (HSA) launched an alert yesterday, it may be the final warning." Shatara concluded.
