 Commander of the Southern Forces' Joint Operations, Maj. Gen. Saleh Hassan Al-Dharhani survived an assassination attempt in the capital Aden on Sunday.

Security officials said that a blast caused by explosive devices planted on the side of the road targeted Al-Dharhani's vehicle while it was passing on the main road of al-Mualla district, but no casualties were reported.

According to local residents, a loud explosion has been heard across many parts of the districts of al-Mualla and At Twahi.

Earlier this month, militants of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) launched an armed attack on a camp of the Security Belt Forces in the southern governorate of al-Dhale.

Two commanders were killed in the attack, including the leader of the counter terrorism units in the province, Mohammed Yahya al-Shubaji.

In less than 24 hours after the al-Dhale's incident, seven soldiers of the Southern Brigades of Al-Amalika (the Giants) injured in a roadside bomb blast targeting their vehicles in al-Mahfed of Abyan governorate.

Also in Yafa', a senior official of the Southern Transitional Council was killed by unknown man. He was stabbed several times while on his way back from a meeting with friends.
