The Iran-backed Houthi militia used artillery shells and medium weapons to target on Wednesday, populated villages on the west coast of Yemen.
Local residents said that the Houthi artillery units rained down the people's homes in the villages of al-Jah in Hodeidah's Bait al-Faqeh district with heavy rounds and bullets.
No casualties were reported so far, but the local sources said that the deliberate and indiscriminate bombardment of the pro-Iran militants caused widespread fear and panic among the residents, mostly women and children.
The Houthi attacks and shelling of civilian areas of Hodeidah continue on a daily basis in flagrant violation of the U.N.-mediated cease fire.
Earlier the same day, the joint forces foiled a Houthi infiltration attempt into al-Tuhita district in the south of Hodeidah.
Military field sources reported that after fierce clashes between the two sides, the joint forces managed to drive back the Houthi fighters, inflicting heavy human and material losses on them.
