Hundreds of people marked on Wednesday, the 27th anniversary of the Yemeni occupation of the South and 14th anniversary of the Southern Liberation Revolution in several areas of the oil-rich province of Shabwa despite the repressive measures taken by the pro-legitimacy Muslim Brotherhood's militias (Islah Party).
The demonstrators displayed their full support for the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) led by Aidroos Qassem Al-Zubaidi.
The crowds also affirmed attachment to their right to restore the sovereign and independent State of the South.
The participants raised the national flags of the South and portraits of the STC leaders. They carried banners, placards and slogans against the presence of the Brotherhood's militias in the province.
They called for the return of Shabwa Elite Forces to continue the fight against terrorism and clean the province of the extremist groups.
Earlier, the Brotherhood's militias stormed the district of Arma to prevent the anti-occupation demonstration called for by the STC. They also used live ammunition to disperse the peaceful protesters in Jardan, al-Thalah and Dahar districts in the east of Shabwa. At least six people were seriously injured.
