The head of the negotiating team of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Dr. Nasser Al-Khubji met in Riyadh on Wednesday, with the Chinese ambassador to Yemen, Kang Yong.
The meeting discussed a number of topics pertaining to Yemen crisis, in particular the efforts made by the STC to fully implement the remaining terms of the Riyadh Agreement, pave the way for an inclusive political process and achieve security and stability in the South, Yemen and the region.
Al-Khubji highly appreciated the key role played by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the international community to implement the agreement and establish peace in the war-torn country.
He touched on the constant attempts led by some frivolous forces to thwart the implementation of the Saudi-brokered deal and plunge the South into the quagmire of conflicts and crises, explaining that systematic collective punishment is used against the Southerners in a bid to dissuade them from their legitimate demands and aspirations to restore and build their independent southern state.
He also stressed the need for a political process that takes into account the de facto political forces on the ground and national issues, in particular the Southern Cause.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador confirmed his country's keenness to support the peace process led by the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen and highly valued the STC's positive engagement in making the the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement possible and bringing peace and stability to the region.
