Former security chief of Aden, Major General Ahmed Mohammed Al Hamdi died in al-Mukalla, his home town on Tuesday, from coronavirus complications.
Before losing his life, Al Hamdi had been fighting the disease for days at the COVID-19 isolation centre of al-Mukalla in Hadramout governorate.
Major General Al Hamdi was born in 1955 in al-Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramout where he studied before obtaining a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Aden.
He consistently served in high-ranking positions in the Ministry of Interior since 1984. His most recent assignment was as the security director of Aden.
