A high-level delegation of European Union (EU) ambassadors to Yemen along diplomatic officials in the southern port city of Aden on Saturday to discuss a number of issues with the newly formed government, including the situation in the government-controlled provinces and the progress of implementing the Riyadh deal.
The visit is the first by a European delegation since the return of the Yemeni government to Aden on Dec. 30 from Saudi Arabia.
The mission includes the ambassadors of France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Germany, Finland, Sweden and Ireland, according to a government source.
The EU’s delegation was reportedly accompanied by armored vehicles and headed to the presidential compound where the new power-sharing government is based.
On Wednesday, an international team composed of senior experts arrived in Aden to investigate the deadly bombings that struck the city's airport last December.
