 The President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Commander-in-Chief of Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi and his delegation concluded on Thursday, an official visit to Moscow.

The STC spokesman, Ali al-Kathiri said in a statement that the meetings held by al-Zubaidi with the Russian officials were constructive and fruitful.

The STC and Russia share identical views on the need to push forward a comprehensive peace process that takes into account all the the political forces and issues, al-Kathiri added. 

Al-Zubaidi arrived last Sunday in Moscow leading a high-level delegation in response to an invitation by the Russian government.

In a previous statement, al-Kathiri affirmed that the STC leadership will return to Aden in the coming days, adding that there is nothing to prevent or hinder its return to the capital.

During his visit to Moscow, al-Zubaidi held a number of meetings with senior Russian officials, including the Russian President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federation Council (Russian parliament's upper house) senator Konstantin Kosachev.

The meetings focused on the political, security and humanitarian developments in Yemen in general and the South in particular, in addition to issues of common interest, including Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, Gulf of Aden, international shipping lines and combating terrorism among others.
