The UN Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Martin Griffiths concluded his visit to Aden on Thursday, during which he met with the Yemeni prime minister, Maeen Abdulmalik, cabinet members and the governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Special Envoy (OSESGY), Griffiths reiterated condemnation of the attack on the cabinet in Aden airport.

The attack was “devastating, not only due to the tragically heavy civilian toll, but also because it has political implications that could stir deep distrust” Griffiths said.

Griffiths congratulated prime minister, Maeen Abdulmalik on the formation of the cabinet and expressed hope their arrival in Aden would mark the beginning of recovery after a perilous year, wishing the ministers success in improving Yemenis’ lives and strengthening state institutions.
