The militias of Islah party, the Yemeni arm of Muslim Brotherhood organization within Yemen's legitimacy resumed on Saturday night, their breaches of Abyan ceasefire by targeting the locations under the control of the southern forces in the province.
Military field sources reported that the Brotherhood's militias used heavy weapons to indiscriminately shell the southern army in al-Thoriya.
The southern forces firmly responded to the sources of fire and managed to quell them, the same sources added.
Saturday's attack took place in Abyan within less than 24 hours of a drone strike launched by Brotherhood's militias that killed two senior field commanders and three soldiers.
The spokesman for the Abyan axis, Captain Mohammed al-Naqib said on Friday "There's no choice left but to begin the decisive battle following the persistence of the Brotherhood's militias in their hostilities and cowardly attacks."
