Sira, the famous fortress of Aden turned on Friday, into blue to mark World Children's Day in response to the UNICEF's 'Go Blue' campaign.

Several monuments in the country went blue too, including the ancient skyscraper city of Shibam in Hadramout governorate and the historical castle in the ancient city of Taiz to celebrate the event in support of children's rights.

Children's Day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honor of children. It was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare.

World Children's Day is celebrated on 20 November to commemorate the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly on 20 November 1959.
