Cautious calm has prevailed on all the battlefronts of Abyan on Saturday, after heavy fighting between the southern armed forces and the militias of Islah party, the military arm of Muslim Brotherhood organization within Yemen's legitimacy.
The spokesman for the Abyan axis, Captain Muhammad al-Naqib affirmed that dozens of Brotherhood's militants were killed and injured, including senior field commanders of al-Qaeda terrorist organization in Friday's fierce battle.
Many dead bodies and injured fighters of the pro-government Muslim Brotherhood's militias were sent to hospitals in Shabwa province after suffering a major defeat in Abyan, well-informed sources told the press.
According to local sources, the roads were reopened on Saturday to vehicle traffic after the intervention of the military committee of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition.
In another development, the southern forces pushed up massive military reinforcements to back up the fronts in Abyan.
Observers confirmed that the violations of Abyan ceasefire and the continued escalation of the Brotherhood's militias in the province is a flagrant defiance of all the efforts to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.
