 President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi received at his residence in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Wednesday, the Ambassador of the European Union to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.

The meeting discussed the latest developments and issues related to the crisis in the country, in particular the efforts exerted by the STC to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed that the Council had delivered all the required plans and documents to move the Riyadh deal forward regarding its political and military sides, included those related to the separation between the fighting forces in Abyan governorate, redeployment of forces to counter the Houthi threats on the frontlines and moving the military forces out of Aden.

He praised the Saudi role in forming a new government in order to alleviate the suffering of people by addressing the outstanding issues such as delayed salaries, deteriorated services and currency collapse among others.

He also affirmed the STC's support for the efforts made by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths to establish peace, stressing the importance of the STS's participation in all the political process in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement.

For his part, the European Ambassador confirmed the EU's support for the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, commending the STC for its positivity in dealing with the peace efforts.

The meeting was attended by the members of the STC negotiating team, Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri, Abdul Rahman al-Yafei, Mohammed Al Ghaithi and Adel Mutlaq.
