 President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi received at his residence in Riyadh on Tuesday, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

The meeting took place amid intense efforts exerted and sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to push forward the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

Al-Zubaidi affirmed that the Riyadh deal is a real opportunity to establish peace and stability and it represents a starting point for the U.N.-brokered inclusive political process.

He also affirmed the STC's support for the efforts made by Griffiths, stressing the need for real representation of the South all the way through the political process.

He reiterated the STC's readiness to participate in the political process in accordance with the Riyadh Agreement, adding that it's impossible to reach a solution without real and full representation of the South at the negotiating table.

Regrading the joint declaration, Al-Zubaidi said that the STC has not yet received a concrete invitation to participate in the consultations, but the STC is ready for making and reviewing the declaration as stipulated in the Riyadh Agreement regarding to the formation of a joint government delegation. He warned of the consequences of making decisions and agreements without a true representation of the South.

The meeting was attended by the members of the STC negotiating team, Dr. Nasser Al-Khabji, Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri, Salem Al-Soqatri, Adnan al-Kaf, Abdul Rahman al-Yafei, Mohammed Al Ghaithi, Anees al-Sharafi and Adel Mutlaq.
