President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi met at his residence in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Monday, with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Michael Aron and his deputy Simon Smart.

The meeting discussed the peace process in the country, Riyadh Agreement and pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to implement the deal.

Al-Zubaidi praised the support of the United Kingdom for establishing peace in Yemen and the South, affirming that the STC highly depends on the British role in making peace and stability.

Al-Zubaidi reiterated the STC's support for the efforts exerted by the UN envoy for Yemen to lead the political process, stressing the need to deal with the active forces on the ground and not bypass them.

He made it clear that the peace process can only be addressed by taking into account the demands and aspirations of the people of the South, adding that no solution can be reached without real and full representation of the South at the negotiating table.

For his part, the British Ambassador commended the STC for its positivity in dealing with the Riyadh Agreement, affirming that the STC participation and the Southern Cause is a core issue in achieving a comprehensive political solution.
