A special ceremony was held in Sheffield on Saturday, in honour of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Aidroos Al-Zubaidi who is currently in the United Kingdom in response to an official invitation from the British Parliament.
A huge crowd of the Southern Community from different British cities attended the ceremony to accord the commandant Al-Zubaidi a warm welcome.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Quranic verses, then the National Anthem of the South and a minute's silence in tribute to the southern martyrs, followed by welcome speeches.
Revolutionary songs, traditional dances and poems were performed in honour of the leader Al-Zubaidi and also to confirm the objectives of the southern revolution.
The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Maj. Gen. Al-Zubaidi pronounced a speech in which he thanked the members of the Southern Community in the UK, appreciating their distinctive role in the struggle for the South.
He highlighted the importance of his historic visit to Britain, affirming that the STC leadership will continue to tour abroad to the countries that have an influence on international politics.
Al-Zubaidi said that the South is in the hands of its people and nothing left but the international recognition, adding that the future South will be a federal civil state for all the Southerners with all their tendencies.
Al-Zubaidi made it clear that the Southern Transitional Council seeks by all means possible to achieve the goals and aspirations of the southern people, represented by liberation, independence and building of a federal civil state.
The members of the Southern Community in the UK decorated the leader Aidroos Al-Zubaidi with a memorial shield and they affirmed their full support for the Southern Transitional Council.
