Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Lutfi Shatara told Huna Aden radio station that many media outlets covered the visit of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Aidroos Al-Zubaidi to UK, but it should be kept in mind that why choosing Britain as the first destination in Europe.
Shatara explained that Britain is a decision-making state and its voice is heard, in addition to its long history in the South, it colonized it for 129 years and what's more Britain has the documented political and civil history of the South that some parties want to obliterate, alleging that the South was only a branch of its origin in the North.
He made it clear that the British were very keen on the South, before al-Zubaidi's visit, they encouraged us to engage in the national dialogue to present our cause, their point was to give the world and the international community a comprehensive overview on the southern issue.
Shatara said that the West has always been saying that the Southerners are not unified and they do not have a leader, the only good thing about 2015 war was that it brought the Southerners together to fight the invaders who thought that it was easy to occupy the South once again as they did in 1994.
The 2015 war has created a new reality that the South is militarily under the control of its people, Shatara said adding that now we think seriously of creating one political entity for all the Southerners as long as they agree that there is a cause represented in restore the state.
Shatara reiterated that Britain is the center of decision and has an influential voice in shaping the decision of the Security Council and the European Union.
He said that the President of the Southern Transitional Council Major General Aidroos Al-Zubaidi in his first visit to Britain, he entered the House of Commons to be the first southern leader to enter the UK Parliament and to talk about the Southerners' will since the independence (1967).
Shatara added that the importance of al-Zubaidi's visit and his speech to the House of Commons, lies in who attended the session and who invited al-Zubaidi to visit Britain, they are the members of the British Parliament.
