 The head of the negotiating team of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Dr. Nasser Al-Khabji met in the Saudi Arabia's capital on Thursday, with the political and economic officer of the United States Embassy to Yemen, Christopher Deutsch.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, forming a power-sharing government and redeployment of armed forces.

Al-Khabji highly appreciated the important role exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates regarding the implementation of the Riyadh deal which was signed between the STC and Yemen's government under the sponsorship of Saudi Arabia on 5 Nov. 2019, in broad Arab and international presence.

During the meeting, Al-Khabji warned against the return of terrorist militants to the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa following the attempts to remove the Shabwani Elite Forces and the Security Belt from the scene.

He touched on the key role played by southern forces in fighting terrorism and securing the international shipping lane, expressing hope for an American support to reinforce the STC's efforts in the fight against terror in order to serve the international peace and security.

He also stressed the importance of the effective partnership with the US against terrorism.

For his part, the American diplomat, affirmed his country's support for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to implement the Riyadh Agreement, bring peace and confront the Iranian expansion.

The meeting was attended by the members of the STC negotiating team, Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri, Abdul Rahman al-Sheikh, Adnan Al-Kaf, Mohammed Al Ghaithi and Anees al-Sharafi.
