Under the slogan "Restoring The Homeland And Building The Southern Independent Federal Civil State", the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council represented by President of the Southern Transitional Council, Maj Gen. Aidroos al-Zubaidi, his deputy, sheikh Hani Ben Brik, inaugurated in al-Mukalla on Saturday, the second session of the Southern National Assembly which lasts three days.
At the inaugural ceremony, Maj Gen. Aidroos al-Zubaidi pronounced a speech in which he said "we have a huge responsibility to maintain the level of representation of the great Southerners' will after the defining moment of establishing this legislative institution".
The president al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of focusing on the performance, achievement and consolidation of the foundations of democratic and institutional work in the next phase.
The President described the attendees as the representatives of the struggles and sacrifices of the great southern people.
He said that Hadramout has suffered significant terrorist attacks such as Aden, Abyan, Lahj, Shabwa and all souther regions, affirming that Hadramout must enjoy its own independence within the framework of the coming federal southern state.
Al-Zubaidi praised the Arab Coalition countries, in particular Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their role in supporting the homeland, affirming the importance of maintaining the strategic partnership with them.
For his part, the President of the National Assembly, Major General Ahmed Said Ben Brik said that holding the second session of the Southern National Assembly in the capital of Hadramout has a great significance, especially in supporting our people in Wadi Hadramout and Behan, adding "we will not allow the enemies of the South to undermine security and stability."
Ben Brik made it clear that the South is for all the Southerners, calling all the people to stand together for the sake of their cause.
He also called on the members of the outgoing parliament to join the National Assembly, affirming that the southern parliament has an integrated project for a modern civil state.
