 President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi met at his residence in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Wednesday, with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen, Christopher Henzel.

The meeting discusses means to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement and address the implications of the recent crisis.

Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of working seriously to accelerate and activate the implementation of the Riyadh deal in accordance with the proposed mechanism.

He highly appreciated the Saudi efforts in making the agreement possible, affirming the STC's readiness to participate actively in the current peace process in conformity with the Riyadh Agreement.

Al-Zubaidi touched on the joint efforts to combat terrorism, emphasizing the need to promote the partnership of the STC with the Arab Coalition and the United States in the fight against terrorism.

He urged more coordination and support for countering the scourge of terrorism and securing Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden, in addition to reinforcing the role of the Coast Guard.

For his part, the US Ambassador congratulated the president of the STC on the proposals to accelerate the implementation of the agreement, praising the key role played by the STC in the settlement process.

The American diplomat also indicated that the Saudi-brokered deal was unbiased and wise, confirming the intention of the United States to support the STC in rebuilding the state institutions.

The meeting was attended by the head of the STC negotiating team Dr. Nasser Al-Khabji, Assistant Secretary-General of the STC Presidency Salem al-Soqtari, members of the STC Presidency Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri and Adnan al-Kaf and the deputy head of the STC Department for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al Ghaithi.
