 President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi met at his residence in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Tuesday, with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

The meeting focused on the ceasefire, de-escalation and confidence-building efforts, in addition to the humanitarian issues and resumption of peace process.

Al-Zubaidi reiterated the STC's support for the efforts exerted by the UN Special Envoy and its readiness to participate in all the U.N.-sponsored political process.

He made it clear that the implementation of Riyadh Agreement represents a real starting point towards peace

He also highly valued the key role exerted by Saudi Arabia to reach a comprehensive peace  in Yemen and the region.

The meeting was attended by the members of the STC negotiating team, Dr. Nasser Al-Khabji, Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri, Abdul Rahman al-Yafei and Mohammed Al Ghaithi.

Earlier the same day, the Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi met with the UN Envoy to discuss means to push forward the peace process in the country.
