 President of the Southern Transitional Council and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi met at his residence in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Monday, with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Michael Aron.

The meeting focused on the current situation in the South, in particular opportunities for peace through implementing the Riyadh Agreement and addressing the consequences of the current crisis.

Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to fully respect the agreement, prompt the formation of power-sharing government that shall take office and assume its duties immediately, on top of that providing public services to the people.

He highly valued the key role exerted by Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the principle of partnership, support for peace and development and rebuilding of institutions, including the Central Organization of Control and Audit (COCA),  Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission (SNACC) and Economic Council.

Al-Zubaidi expressed his rejection of foreign interference by regional powers against the Saudi-led Arab project.

Al-Zubaidi reiterated the STC's position in support of peace and stability and for the UN-brokered comprehensive peace process and its readiness for effective participation.

He madeit clear that it will be an impossibility to come up with any real solutions without tangible and full representation of the South at the negotiating table.

The meeting was attended by the members of the STC negotiating team, Dr. Nasser Al-Khabji, Ali Abdullah Al-Katheri, Abdul Rahman al-Yafei and Mohammed Al Ghaithi.
