High-ranking military officials of the southern armed forces held a meeting on Friday, with the Arab Coalition's observer team in presence of the head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Abyan governorate.

The meeting focused on the efforts exerted to accelerate stabilizing the ceasefire agreement on the front lines of Abyan.

The meeting resulted in the assignation of two military officials to head to Shuqra with the Coalition's observers to reinforce the ceasefire efforts, in particular on al-Sheikh Salem front where heavy armed clashes resumed between the  southern army and the pro-government forces.

The agreement reached in Riyadh called on the two sides to avoid escalation, hold a meeting in Saudi Arabia to discuss the implementation of a peace deal brokered last November and resume the work of political and military committees.
