The Director of al-Tawahi district, Abdel Hamid Nasser Al-Shuaibi, resigned on Saturday, from his position and officially gave a resignation letter to the governor of Aden, Ahmed Salmin after having assigned the Secretary General of the local authority to conduct the work in the district.
Al-Shuaibi explained in his letter that the significant deterioration of basic services in Aden was the main reason of his resignation, accusing the legitimate government and influential people in the Yemeni presidency of large-scale corruption and putting the people's interests under their feet.
Heavy rainfall pounded Aden city amid power blackout last Tuesday, landslides affected many areas, rendering most of them impassable.
The torrential rains flooded houses and roads in Aden's districts, especially in Crater, al-Mualla and al-Tawahi. At least 10 people died, including five children and dozens were injured.
