Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Vice-President of the National Assembly for Control and Inspection, Mr. Lufti Shatara warns against any reckless disregard for the people's lives, in particular after the announcement of the first confirmed case of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in al-Shehr city of Hadramout governorate.
Shatara urged in a tweet, the concerned bodies in Yemen to stop underestimating the risks associated with the most severe worldwide pandemic.
Shatara highly valued the rapid responsiveness of the Security Belt Forces to the people in removing the newly-created Khat market on the outskirts of Aden.
He also stressed the need to impose a ban on khat sale, prohibit assemblies and close Aden's ports of entry, with exception to the basic needs of the people; vegetables, fruits and other foodstuffs.
The Saudi-led Arab Coalition has announced a two-week ceasefire covering all ground, maritime and air operations in Yemen to begin on Thursday in an effort to contain the COVID-19 outbreak in that country.
Yemen’s supreme national emergency committee for COVID-19 reported the first case of coronavirus on Friday, April 10 in Hadhramout province.
