 President of the Southern Transitional Council and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi instructed the concerned authorities to take all necessary measures to confront the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and to form an emergency committee.

In a televised address to the Southerners on coronavirus, al-Zubaidi urged to tighten the security measures in coordination with the Arab Coalition forces in order to protect maritime borders and prevent illegal immigration from the African Horn.

Al-Zubaidi urged all the Southerners to stay home with a view to containing any outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.

He also ordered to implement a curfew in any area suspected or confirmed to have been infected with the coronavirus.

Al-Zubaidi also instructed the concerned authorities to create quarantine stations in all the southern governorates.

Al-Zubaidi called on all the political parties to rise above their disputes and join efforts in the fight against potential outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.

He called for international rapid intervention to save the people of the South and provide them with food and medical equipment and supplies.
