The Security Belt Forces foiled, a shipment of large arms smuggled from Marib to Aden late last night.
An official source at the security operations of the Security Belt Forces said in a statement to the media Department of Moral Guidance, that the Eastern sector forces, seized 178 pieces of automatic weapons, 48 pieces of RBG launchers and 45 binoculars for RPG launchers. The weapons where loaded on a truck (Isuzu Jumbo) travelling to Aden.
The same source explained that the truck was carrying a white refrigerator meant to transport frozen chickens coming from Mareb. The security forces at the checkpoint noticed the driver was confusing his information and seemed suspicious. The forces unloaded the truck and moved the contents (frozen chicken )into another truck noticing that there was an extra compartment at the inside of the truck; that it where the weapons were hidden.
Thanks to the sense of security the of the forces which foiled that dangerous attempt, the truck was seized and the driver was sent for investigation.
It is worth mentioning that the security belt points deployed in Aden and the neighboring provinces has earlier thwarted several attempts of smuggling of weapons and other materials.
Despite the smugglers’ tricks they fail in the wake of the vigilance and sense of security of the soldiers and the supporting brigades who received high level of training in order to maintain security and fight smuggling in all its forms and types.
