Under the motto Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls, the Southern Transition Council organized in Aden on Monday, the closing ceremony of the the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the international campaign which is held every year from 25 November to 10 December.
At the ceremony, the member of the STC Presidency and acting secretary general, Fadl al-Ja'di stated that the campaign is part of the principles of the Council that rejects violence against the population in general and women in particular, addig that all women have a right to be respected and treated fairly.
The head of STC Legal Department, Lawyer Heba Ali Zain said that gifts and logos in orange had been distributed during the 16-day campaign. The color designated by the United Nations to symbolize a brighter future, free of violence. It also serves as a means of demonstrating solidarity in eliminating all forms of violence against women.
The participants in the ceremony wrote non-violence phrases on a whiteboard and put their hand marks in orange on it, in a move that reflect their support for women and their opposition to violence against them.
