The Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia used several types of medium and heavy weapons to target the residential areas of al-Tuhita districts in the south of Hodeidah in defiance of the international community and the U.N.-brokered truce in the province.

Local sources said that the Houthi rebels indiscriminately fired heavy mortar shells at al-Tuhita's residential neighborhoods, adding that the pro-Iran militants also used heavy machine guns and sniper rifles in their attack on the people's homes, causing a state of fear and panic among civilians, mostly women and children.

Houthi shelling of citizens' houses is part of a series of the crimes and violations committed since the entry into force of the U.N.-mediated ceasefire last year. The number of casualties tragically increased due to the Houthis' indiscriminate shelling and landmines in al-Tuhita and other densely populated areas of Hodeidah.
