An outdoor festival was held in the capital Aden on Monday, to mark the 48th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.

Thousands of Southerners from Aden and other governorates congregated on the main street of al-Maalla to celebrate the UAE National Day and to express their recognition for the Emirati key role in liberating the southern governorates from the grip of the Iranian-backed Houthi putschist militias and terrorist groups.

The participants raised the national flags of the South and the United Arab Emirates and portraits of the Emirati leaders, in addition to banners, placards and slogans that reflect their appreciation for the UAE generous support provided to the South in particular and Yemen in general at all levels.

National Day in the UAE commemorates the day in 1971 when six of the seven emirates—Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain—became one under Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan with Abu Dhabi serving as the capital.
