 President of the Southern Transitional Council and Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, Aidroos Qassem al-Zubaidi met in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, with the Swedish Ambassador to Yemen, Peter Semneby, Chief of the EU mission to Yemen, Hans Grundberg and hid deputy, Ricardo Villa and Swedish Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Henrik Landholm.

The meeting discussed the latest developments, joint cooperation between Europe and the STC to promote peace and stability and the opportunity created by the Riyadh Agreement to achieve a comprehensive political settlement.

The meeting also touched on the humanitarian and development issues, activating the role of government institutions, fighting corruption and confidence-building between the warring parties to pave the way for successful political process.

The meeting highly valued the significant efforts for peace exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UN Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

The STC leader said that the Riyadh Agreement is a historical achievement that will lead the South to an advanced stage of political and administrative action, affirming that the Southerners represented by the STC are part of the upcoming peace talks to guarantee their right to self-determination and making their political future.

For their part, the European diplomats highly valued the STC attitude towards peace, affirming their support for peace and the peaceful steps taken by the STC in this regard.

The meeting was attended by the deputy head of the STC Department for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al Ghaithi and the southern activist, Amr Ali Salem Al-Baid.
