 Member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Lutfi Shatara commented on the briefing of the United Nations envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths to the UN Security Council on Friday, by quoting Griffiths as saying “The Riyadh agreement paves the way for a comprehensive peace process in Yemen,”

Shatara explained on his Twitter account that Griffiths' words is "a clear sign that the Southern Transitional Council which was not part of the conflict in Yemen, has become a key partner in a comprehensive political solution for the North and South."

The UN envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths praised the role played by Saudi Arabia in making the Riyadh Agreement between the Government of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council possible.

Griffiths told the Security Council "we must all thank President Hadi and the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, as well as the Saudi leadership for the agreement that it should serve as a catalyst to move Yemen swiftly towards settling the conflict through political means."
