A joint fleet of vessels and aircraft of the Saudi Royal naval forces and Border guard were able to evacuate an Ukrainian captain after having undergone an emergency case in the international waters off Al-Hodeidah port on Thursday night, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Misfer bin Ghannam Al-Graini, Border guard spokesman, said his crew received a distress from the Cyprus-based Search and Rescue Center that the Ukrainian captain of HC JANA ROSA vessel, sailing under the flag of Antigua & Barbuda, has gone helpless under pressure of an accidental illness, 22 nautical miles off Al-Hodeidah port, Yemen.
According to international maritime search and salvage agreement for 1979, a vessel and a helicopter, both affiliated to the Saudi navy, rushed to the scene and picked the patient to a near Saudi hospital of Jazan for medical treatment.
