Violent clashes erupted on Thursday, between, on the one hand, the southern joint forces, on the other hand, the Iran-backed Houthi coupist militia in the areas of Habil al-Kalb, Lakma Othman, al-Khazan and the hilltops on the outskirts of the strategic region of al-Fakher in the far north-west of al-Dhale province.

Military field sources reported that the heavy clashes erupted following a sudden attack launched by the pro-Iran militants on military positions under the control of the southern forces in a bid to restore lost grounds, in particular in al-Fakher region.

The same sources added the the Houthis used medium and heavy weapons in their desperate infiltration attempt into the newly-liberated areas in the north west of Qataba in al-Dhale province.

The southern joint forces managed to liberate vast areas from the grip of the Iran-backed Houthi coupist militia last Tuesday after launching a large-scale attack on the locations under the control of the Houthi militants in the mountains and valleys of Salim and al-Fakher areas in the northern parts of al-Dhale province.

Tuesday's battles resulted in heavy casualties on the pro-Iran Houthi rebels, in addition to inflicting material damage on them, field sources said, adding that the southern forces recaptured large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
