Southern joint forces managed to liberate vast areas from the grip of the Iran-backed Houthi coupist militia in the north west of Qataba in al-Dhale province in the early hours of Tuesday.
Military field sources reported that the southern forces launched at dawn a large-scale attack on the locations under the control of the Houthi militants in the mountains and valleys of Salim and al-Fakher areas in the northern and western parts of Qataba.
The same sourses also confirmed that the southern forces achieved a significant advance on al-Zubairiyat front in the north of Qataba and liberated a number of areas overlooking Hajr in the west of al-Dhale amid the withdrawal and mass escape of the pro-Iran Houthi militants.
The battles resulted in heavy casualties on the pro-Iran Houthi rebels, in addition to inflicting material damage on them, field sources said, adding that the southern forces recaptured large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
