Kuwait donated on Tuesday USD12 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support its humanitarian programs in Yemen.
Kuwait's "generous" USD-12-million contribution to finance programs of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will be allocated to the internally-displaced persons in Yemen, the Commissioner's Office Chief of Staff Salvatore Lombardo said.
Those programs in cooperation with other UN-affiliated bodies such as UNICEF, WFP and WHO will focus on providing shelter and care for Yemenis, as well as refugees pouring into it from Somalia and the Horn of Africa, he added.
Earlier, the Government of Kuwait contributed two million U.S. dollars to boost FAO’s emergency agricultural interventions and improve food security and nutrition in Yemen.
