President of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Berek, met in Aden on Thursday Mr Marwan Ali Khoury, director of the Office of the UN Envoy to Yemen.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the capital and the efforts of Mr Martin Griffiths to resolve the Yemeni crisis, including the southern issue and ways to reach positive solutions that will satisfy all sides to bring peace to the region.
During the meeting, the STC members reviewed methods to continue to stabilize life conditions and to improve the public services besides offering support to the military and security forces to facilitate the work of UN organizations in the capital Aden.
Major General Ben Berek explained to the UN representatives the events that took place in the capital Aden and its causes as well as how the STC handled the situation. He assured the representatives that the situation has returned to normal in the capital Aden.
On his part, Mr Marwan Ali Khoury, Director of the Office of the UN Envoy to Yemen stressed that the United Nations and the NGOs will extend all their efforts to continue to provide their services in all fields. He praised the role of the STC in returning life to normal following the latest events in the capital Aden.
Member of the presidency Lutfi Shatara, Dr Anis Luqman, Vice President of the National Assembly, Ambassador Nasser Ali Ahmed, Director of Foreign Relations, and Dr Salem Al-Shahari, Chairman of the Health Committee of the National Assembly attended the meeting.
